I think I'm concerned about cutting from below given the density of the glass surrounding the chainplate underneath and doubled-up core. Just the glass is almost as thick as the hull. And I think there may be hardwood around the chainplates. It's also where the strength needs to be. But you made me think about cutting only in NON non-skid areas from above, causing the necessity of a larger piece to come out, but with less concern about structural integrity issues where I bond the edges of the repair.
