Hello all.

We are considering the purchase of a Tartan 37. The standing rigging and chainplates are original.

Does anyone know where to get new chainplates? Approximate cost?

Regards,
Keth

Do you see a need to replace them? They were custom and I would think you will need to have them fabricated if you want new ones. But I do not recall anyone doing that. Mine are original and my boat has at least 50k miles and 35 years of use and have no issues.

Inspection is required, but only replace if required. Older SS is better quality than most of the junk SS out there today. I replaced my original standing rigging and in five years the new stuff looks worst.

Replaced all port and starboard chainplates. Once I pulled old ones off, not really sure they needed replacing but since they were off ... Send them all to Mack Sails in Stuart Florida, they came back in two weeks, went right in. Look great and now I have full confidence in them.

How much do they charge to make new ones? How did you secure your mast to remove?

differed as they have different shapes. 150 to 250?? did them in stages to keep mast up.

Uppers first, leaving lowers attached. then the lowers, leaving uppers attached.

DO check the wood inside your starboard knee! mine was gone, rotted out.

cleaned remains out, replaced with coosa board.
