I want to move the stern mounted swim ladder on my boat since it will interfere with the cape horn windvane I'm planning to install.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a swim ladder that would be a good fit for either the port or starboard side of the boat?

I've been emailing back and forth with cape horn and they recommended moving the ladder. The other pain is when you climb it it puts your right into the back stay.

Having had both side and transom ladders, I have to say I prefer the ladder on the transom.

I've got a folding heavy duty stainless ladder that mounts on the toe rail track. For the few times that I've need of a ladder it's the way to go. Most of the time I'm coming in and out of the water via an inflatable dinghy. I sure would not want the situation where the ladder conflicts with the operation of the vane gear. I'm also a nut about weight on the boars' ends.

And I don't want a fixed folder on my side deck if I have to run forward.

Do you know what type of ladder this is? Does it mount onto the tracks for the jib sheet fair leads? Do you have a picture of your setup? Is it installed all the time or do you remove it when sailing?

Just wanted to follow up on this. Do you have any pics of your setup or recommendations?

I also had a folding stern ladder, made unusable by dingy on davits and solar etc. I had it altered at a stainless fabricator so it now fits on the toerail and folds up against the lifelines. My provide pic next time internet available, going south, just anchored in Bellhaven NC.

My Cape Horn is mounted on center and the ladder that came with the boat was able to move to the starboard side. I also opened up the starboard side rails so it is easy to get in and out of the water,

Richard
