Anybody ever had a reading over 23,000 lbs!?? That's what the yard said they got on the lift when they pulled Holiday for bottom work. About 50 gallons of water in the tanks and 45 or so of diesel. 180 foot of chain on the anchor. Then just your basic cruising stuff. All my canvas is currently removed, dinghy and outboard not on board. Pantries mostly empty and I even have about half my tools off the boat currently. We are a C/B.

Maybe their scale is off? Or have we really put that much weight on over the years since 1980.

We just literally just got pulled 3 hours ago and they said 20k#. I was blown away. We only had about 20 gallons of water and probably 30 of diesel. Bilges are dry, we are carrying two extra danforths and are fully packed for an extended voyage and we do have 200ft of 5/16th chain but we didn't even have the mast or any of the rigging!

So I'm guessing when you add that back in we're getting close.

I read that fully outfitted for extended cruising can add 5k lbs. So, you are in that ball park. Not sure how much the mast and rigging weigh. 23k plus, with some of my gear off, I'm around 8k over the original dry weight. Anybody else weighed and had something like these?

I asked my rigger that pulled our mast and redid our standing rigging. He estimated 400-500 lbs for mast plus rigging. So, sailingsoulianis and jvoelxen sound about the same. Mine was 3k more. I'm going to have them check their scale. Anybody else have any input here?

I am shocked at these numbers, but the consistency says that they might be in the ballpark. I will say that the scales on the Travel lifts are notoriously faulty. Occasionally the boatyards haul boats that are going on over the road haulers who need to know the exact weight and weigh the trailer just before they pick it up and right after. I would think that that kind of weight measurement would be much more reliable than the one off a Travel Lift. if someone has a weight taken that way, I would like to hear about it.

So Richard, being transported, were you pretty much empty (tanks and lockers and such)? If so, I don't think 23,000 like what I got is that big of a stretch.

Well actually I had quite a bit of stuff in it for shipping because we were getting posted (military) and at our limit for the furniture etc. The water was empty but probably had lots of fuel in it,
