Closing up the boat yesterday I noticed a lot of " play", very loose on one of my interior handles for my forward deck hatch. The other handle is very tight. I didn't have time to further investigate, running late.

I think my hatches are original, having new lexan replaced in 2002 and possibly be Atkins Hoyle (?).
This may be an elementary question, is there a way to adjust, tighten the handle for better hatch engagement?

Thanks in advance for any and all advice on this issue.

Nick.

If they are AH, you adjust using the nylon washes that are on the closing latch shafts. The challenge is getting the large aluminum knobs off. If I recall, the knobs are attached to the SS closing latches with set screws that have a tendency freeze up.

Jim,

I'll be back at the boat this weekend and try messing with the knobs. I did notice a few white washers on the latch handles.
So perhaps it is A. H. Hatch.
I hope this is adjustable- fixable.
Thanks for your advice and I'll let you know what happens.

Regards,
Nick.

It might be that the gasket is toast on one side.
