Hello All,
I have a '79 T-37. This weekend I'll be removing my cutless bearing. The shaft is already out so I have good access. My plan is to make removal tool using threded rod, two pieces of pipe, washers and nuts. My question is does anyone know what the inside diameter of the cutless bearing is as well as the outside diameter of the shaft? Thanks

I just replaced my shaft and cutlass bearing. The OD of the shaft is 1". Not sure of the ID of the Cutlass Bearing race. The yard did the replacement.

When I replaced the cutlass bearing several years ago, I carefully used my sawzall, making two cuts approximately 180 degrees apart and the two halves came right out. This took less than ten minutes. If you are patient enough when doing the cutting, you can easily stop the sawzall before it starts to cut into the strut. There is a set screw on the side of the strut that you'll have to back out first before re-installing.
