Has anyone replaced the fresh water hosing yet? Mine is getting pretty gross and I was thinking of using the PEX tubing. Does anyone know of the pros and cons of using Pex instead of hosing?

Hi,

I replaced all of mine last year using the conventional tubing for hot and cold. Check out this link http://www.wbryant.com/StellaBoat/Projects/plumbing/new/index.htm. This site details many DIY projects including Pex water tubing.

Thanks Mark,
This link shows some nice details. Instead of the flex-PEX fittings that this guy used, I was thinking of the crimp-on fittings since I already have the crimp tools. The downside of using crimp on fittings, would be the corrosion of the copper rings where they may stay green, but should last forever.

Get a little reflective wrap for under the galley sink. We've had two hose embolisms at the point nearest the engine bay.

We just had one split in the bilge where it crosses from the pump to the head. But that was most likely due to a malfunctioning pressure switch. I'm guessing it was just the weakest point of the line. That's the first project come spring. (ugh)

Is the reflective wrap is for the hose or for protecting the bulk head?

I wrapped the hose where it runs by the "hot" bulkhead. Both hoses that popped were reinforced tubing and both ballooned at that same place before they finally split. I figured that area was heating up on long engine runs (that's pronounced "cruising")
