After it's been closed up for a while. You might remember that the holding tank was on our list of jobs to get done. Well, we got it swapped out with the new one.

The black connection is for pump out. We 4200'ed the heck out of it to stop the drips from here so we could get to a time to pull it out.

This is the connection from the head. And yes, those cracks go all the way through. Anybody need a used tank. Better hurry. The dumpster gets emptied on Monday.

The new tank has connections only on the top. So we can see them and they don't leak liquid all the time.

Hi,

I buried its brother last fall, but have yet to replace it... What holding tank did you go with? I'm thinking of putting the new one up forward near the bow in the V-berth.

We bought the Ronco B-500 tank from Marine Sanitation. MS will install 3 ports where you request them. I added a 4th for a water flush. The B-500 fits under the portside V-berth perfectly. The original tank was stuck out of the aft bulkhead but we moved the new one slightly forward. All my ports are on the top side. The slanted (diagonal) side of the tank goes against the hull.

As we are the third owner of this boat, I'm not sure if the shelf it is sitting on is original or added in. But there is enough clearance above the tank for the 4" A/C hose and the 1-1/2" tank hoses. With room to spare.

Pictures the next time we get back to the boat. Sorry, I never can remember to take all the pictures while working.

Thanks for the quick response, Yes, I would like to see how it turned out. I also believe the shelf is from the factory as my 79 had the exact same tank you showed and set-up you described.

we just replaced our tank with a pretty standard one from West marine, increased slightly to a 20 gallon capacity, new hoses of courses. Its a standard rectangular tank fitted in the same location as the other but moved forward and out of the closet area. It took a little bit of modification but it just fits. Its better then the old set up but not the best solution, under the forward section of the V berth would be my preferred location but I have other uses for that money Snicker

You guys inspired me, after spending time repairing the tank. Just ordered a new holding tank and new head. Went with the Jabsco head with regular size bowl and twist-lock handle. Using the Tank Depot's Ronco RH-B501 19 gallon holding tank, almost an exact match to the original. Plan on using all fittings from tank top so waste doesn't stand in the hose to cut down on the odor.

Wayne, I think your selling your old tank too cheap, it surely looks like it could make it a few more years........NOT!!! That tank had certainly seen it's better days.
I've been contemplating it for awhile myself, maybe this summer......????

Just a quick post. Life gets in the way at times. Impetuous went in the shop for repairs and has not come out yet. hopefully, I will get pictures of the tank installation in the next week or so.

We got everything hooked up and ready to go last weekend. But I forgot the camera. Anyway, we made modifications to the whole system. We used to have a "Y" valve but after carrying around a FULL holding tank for a week, we decided to have someway to pump the tank overboard if necessity strikes again. Plus I bought a large piece of plywood for some of the other repairs we are doing to the hanging closet in the v-berth so we replaced the entire sink cabinetry. Stained with deck sealant and stain which the manufacturer claims is good for 4 years in the sun so we'll just see how good it is in the stink area. I mean sink area. We are also relocating the sink faucet to the outboard forward quadrant of the cabinet. It's waiting on the forward storage shelf to be installed so some clumsy dummy doesn't break it off installing the shelf. And the shelf is waiting on the fiberglass sanding. The sanding is waiting on the vacuum. We left the vacuum at home, of course.
