I always have some water entering near the mast. Any rain water will run down the the mast in the sail slot and that ends just above the bilge. It is a myth that the bilge should be dry. Water enters from the icebox/refer, the stuffing box and via the sail slot in the mast. All of this is to be expected by the design

I was wondering has your boat ever been hit by lightening? it could of traveled down the mast and looked for an exit point. Then finding the lead keel.

I have a friend who had pinholes around a poorly bonded thru-hull, found after a lightening hit. The surveyor thought that it was caused by an exit point. Lightening is traveling a couple miles thru air a little damp fiberglass isn't going to stop it from finding ground.

No lightning as far as I know. Definitely not since I've owned the boat and quite a bit of electronics that has some age that you would think wouldn't make it through a strike.

I have pretty much decided just to check it on the next haul out. I think I have a very small leak coming through next to the front of the keel.
