I have replaced my W-50 with a Yanmar 39 hp, but always thought that the W-50 was a bit too much power for the T37 and kind of a waste even though I ran a large alternator off it. I think a W-33 would be just fine. There are conditions that are beyond an engine to do well in (heading into those square waves of 3-9 ft, for instance) and more horsepower or torque is not going to make much of a difference. If you have having some difficulty or question with thrust, I would look at the pitch of your prop. An enormous amount of the power of any engine is lost to inefficiency in the props. My original prop from the factory was grossly overpitched. David Gerr's book is really an excellent reference on this. If I recall correctly he talks about 2 hp per 1000 lbs.
