Repowered my 1983 T37. Took out the old Westerbeke W33 and installed a Kubota 37hp with Twin Disc 2:1 gear from Phasor marine. Minor modifications to the engine bed and a couple of spacers for the front feet of the new engine as the old westerbeke was a single front mount.

The boat runs 5kts at 2ooo rpm's in fair conditions. With 25 knts head winds she will still do 5kts at 2200 rpm's. So at the recommended 2500 rpm's crusing speed she's making 6.8 knts. The engine is smooth and quiet, very simple to work on and all replacement parts but the patented heat exchanger can be bought at a local auto parts store.

I also installed many new items while the old engine was out including a Kubota 3.5KW genset and a 13 gallon auxilary fuel tank. I can share installation info if interested as I did the entire job myself on weekends over about 3 months with the boat in the water.

What did it cost you for the new engine and engine bed modifications? Did you need to get a new shaft with the smaller foot print engine?

I would like to see photos.

Where did you put the genset and the fuel tank?

Great info,
Did you replace the H2O heater while the engine was out? Was the diameter of the exhaust hosing the same? What prop do you have on her? Please send pics! Cheers
Enjoy the new season!
Tom
