Started my engine for the first time this year and I noticed a fuel drip by my lift pump. Got worse very quickly. Looks like the line going from the pump to the filter rotted out. I called some distributors and nobody has one in stock. Part no. 23279. Westerbeke supply chain is in the crapper. Anyone have a spare or know if I can use a proper hose instead of metal for thos application?

I think you can use a regular fuel line there. I know I do but I also abandoned that lift pump over 15 years ago and put an electric pump on the other side of the engine (nearer to the secondary fuel filter). I made a cover out of a piece of plate steel to cover the opening for the mechanical pump.

Look for a flex fuel hose Type A-1 which is USCG approved for diesel on boats.

My Tartan came with an electric fuel pump. I have since added a Racor filter between the original water separator and the electric pump.

After changing the engine fuel filter twice and having to bleed down the engine each time, I decided to install the Racor where I can change it from the front of the engine. Smile

anything on the low pressure side can be regular fuel line with proper clamps. When I rebuilt my Westerbeke 50 i had developed a leak and have used the rubber replacement hose despite that I sourced some replacement metal lines and ferules to make my own. The ferules were the most expensive bit.
