NOW, I'm sure the heat exchanger I've got off the Tartan is the 15". But can someone please confirm they put a bolted-to end cap on instead of the rubber one?

I took the heat exchanger off the "exemplar" diesel in my garage and it seems to be the 13" one with bolted end cap. Different hose fittings.

I'm waffling on either getting a new oil cooler or simply plumbing one side to the other and cutting out the oil cooler. Mine seems pretty good, but when I tapped it, some corrosion dust fell out.

I need a new manifold gasket and a new valve cover gasket. Northwoods Tractor, I presume?

Oh, and a rebuild kit for the Jabsco pump? My "spare" is a Sherwood, different mount but nothing out there for rebuild.

Tried to look up my old invoice from Mr Cool. I'm pretty certain it was the 15in and positive it had a bolt-on end cap, on the aft end. You will not need the oil heat exchanger, it's just a time bomb. Bypass the oil-in side to the oil-out, with a proper hose. Don't plug the lines. This is very important.

Oh, it definitely is the 15 inch, but the different end cap must mean different construction. I ordered already. My original has the rubber end cap hose clamped on, but the edge of the exchanger where it fits on was bent at some point to get it off (then used for a couple hundred hours). The grooved ridge in the middle is a little monkeyed up, but it apparently worked. This will be an emergencies only spare.

With the 'new' configuration, it must be constructed differently since the bolt on cap and rubber seal underneath don't appear to provide the separation the 'old' configuration did??

Oil cooler . . . OK, avg. water temp Chesapeake 73 degrees. Avg. water temp USVI 79 degrees. I was concerned going from cold water to Caribbean full time, but that seems well within reasonable parameters.

My understanding is the original is a 3-pass and Mr Cool is a 4-pass.
