Hey all, old topics new!
We finished a re-power on out Tartan37 Hull #82 svHajime on April 01, 2014 exactly 365 days after spinning the #1 journal main bearing 20 miles off shore from Manzanillo in Mexico...
What happened to the 365 days? A re-build gone very bad... We have the whole story on our blog, If you are interested... Blog is

Beta 30:
The motor develops 30 BHP at 3600 RPM.
The custom feet worked out perfectly. We did plan and drill new holes in the fiberglass bathtub motor base for the mounts.
My 16RH12 3 blade prop is a little over-propped for this motor, but we get 3500 WOT with clean hull and propeller.
We did not haul out to do the install, we used the boom for lifting the W40 out-in-out and the Beta30 in!
We run about 6.2 Knots in calm seas at 2500 RPM, changed from 2.0:1 to a 2.45:1 transmission. Getting about .6 gal per hour. Only have 140 hours on her so far! Been good sailing weather!
Lastly, I think I put it all on the blog, with photos, but the motor was around $7000 before shipping direct from Beta in England! Since there is no Mexico distributor the price is quite a bit lower than in the US. Beta sales told us we were the first to direct import, flew it from England thru Vancouver BC Canada to Puerto Vallarta Jalisco Mexico at a premium for air freight. We used a paper guy in PV to help with import and to keep it away from Guadalajara customs black hole... I think the US quote was around $12000 before shipping?
