Nigel Calders boatowners mech &elect manual, on the topic of siphon breaks ''my preference is to remove the valve altogether and add a hose to the top of the vented loop, discharging well above the waterline, into the cockpit works well.''
Just a thread drift, how does one know which boats were built in Ohio and which in NC ? Bruce.

Bruce,
Not quite sure how to know unless it's coded in the hull identification number. Mine lists the place of manufacture on the Coast Guard documentation. Physically, I have noticed that there is a difference on the trim on top of the plywood panel that separates the ice box and the settee and the plywood panel that separates the nav station and the port settee. This trim on some boats has a built in grab handle and on other boats, this trim is simply rounded over at the corners. The profile of the trim also varies from round-ish to more square in profile with eased edges. Could be the difference in model year or place of build. The cabin sole is also different form teak ply to holy/teak sole. The on the coach top, the grab rails range from one piece on older models to two piece grab rail on newer models.

My boat was built in NC in 1979. I have grab handles, teak plywood cabin sole and 2 piece grab rails on the coach roof.

Mines a 1977, one piece coach handrail, grab handles and teak sole.
I would think that it is easier to install the two piece handrail than one long one. If your thinking of replacing a long one today, you'll have to make one yourself because I think it could be hard to find one longer than 7 feet, or go with a two piece. I replaced mine with a custom stainless.
