I am getting ready to replace my heat exchanger (the old one has seen its better days) and noticed that all of the coolant hosing is real soft and some have even collapsed.....what do you expect after 37 years??? Anyway, has anyone else completed this task yet? Did you use Westerbeke replacements or universal flexible hosing? I thought I could find close-enough replacements with the correct angles and bends from an autopart store and cut to length. Thoughts?

During the years with my Westerbeast, I used regular old car parts for hoses. You can find what you need if they will let you behind the desk in the car parts store. Nothing magic about this.

Pretty much what I figured. Modern auto parts stores are kind of a pain in that all of the parts are behind the counters. You almost feel that you're imposing on them when you ask for something " out of the box" like we sometimes do when working on our boats.

I'll try to get the part number of the car part I use, was able to get both hoses out of one hose. Seemed like it was for a Ford Escort. On the heat exchanger I got the one from Mr Cool, great product.

I used NAPA flexible hoses. They have a smooth interior and were really easy to install. Cost under $25 (Cdn) for the main hoses
