Cool. When we chartered in Baja I used Google Earth to make charts for SeaClear II. With sat images and the calibration utility, my laptop was more accurate than the boats GPS plotter. (It had everything 1/4 mile East of reality... You'd think Moorings would lose more boats. Shocked )

So has anyone tried the NOAA Booklet charts?

Too small, just right, not enough detail? Thoughts?

I was sailing a friends boat up from NC to the Chesapeake for him, he had the book charts (I presume thats what these were). what he had were single sheets, printed out at home or whatever...they didn't have the Lat/Long along the sides...made the chart useless for plotting...

I can't really see the benefit of them either. Even a cruising guide reprints the Long/Lat when they split up the chart. Perhaps for planning at the local breakfast joint, but I use e-charts on a netbook for such things. (OpenCPN is still free and just getting better every season. Android development has started and plugins like radar overlay are popping up faster.)
