Since nobody else has posted about it, I got one for a "Christmas present for Glory". The 100 sq ft ATN Gale sail. Now I just have to wait for Lake Superior to open up and then get caught out in some bad weather. My wife isn't real excited about leaving a nice safe marina to head out in a storm to test a new sail. I keep telling her how lucky she is to have that opportunity, other women just dream about that. I'll let you know how it goes.

Sailing is better when the wind blows, I heard. I never got my Freedom 21 out in more than 30mph wind - but man was that fun! The Burger on Madeline Island tasted better than any meat I had that year. I have yet to sail our T37 with the right sails for that kind of wind.

I had several chances to try the storm sail this summer but the highest winds I found were 28-32 knots. The sail worked really well and I think 100sq ft is the right size. The first time I tried it in 20-24knts with a full mainsail and the sail performed well. Once the wind died down to 15 you pretty much had to pull it down or be content going really slow. The sail was very stiff the first few times I put it on. It felt like you were wrapping sheet metal around the furler. Just like anything else the more I used it the easier it was to put up and down. You absolutely don't want the first time to be when you really need it. I'll try to attach some photos. Barry
