For anyone who has not yet purchased their copy of

Tartan 37 - A History And Celebration

There are still just under 50 copies remaining. You can contact me by Private Message, or go to the book link on the home page for particulars.

In other news - Good Old Boat magazine has a nice article about our T37 in the January '09 issue.

Best regards -

Impressive. Didn't notice until yesterday that you got the book listed as a part with Tartan.

Now that there is one less book available, after I bought it, I would like to thank the team producing it for a first class job! Great quality! Maybe you could publish a second book with useful data for the Tartans, like sail data, measures, rigging in general, plans and copies of key part drawings, solutions published in the forum, addresses to manufacturers and furnishers, and other resources? But maybe this forum itself may lend itself to fill this function. If on the boat I have a chance to access it. A T37 knowledgebase... I read of the different boats changing owners, but I suppose we need to trigger the updates in the roster, it may be hard for the guys working on this to simply guess from the mails we send in ...

I just bought a T37 and I'm in the process of deciding what kind of overhaul to start with. There will be a lot, and I am sure the boat will go from great to even more great. It looks as if most T37 owners are in the US. I am in Sweden and will take her here from the Azores when the ice we have here will finally melt. It will be a bit of a sail of course and this is where the overhaul decisions are coming up. As a starting point I am trying to find the drawings and the rig plan, and have written to S&S, and waiting for an answer. Also looking for other manuals of all sorts, I am not sure if I have a Westerbeke 40 or 50 but will soon know.

The hull is # 141, and I am it's third Very Proud Owner. I shall revert in time with pictures. My starting intention is to equip her for ocean sailing, and be less in Sweden than elsewhere. Anyone knows about resources in Europe or Scandinavia, specifically clued in regarding Tartan, Westerbeke etc? I have an Italian mast furler that needs plenty of TLC to start with. Are those common on Tartan? I earlier sailed with a friend on a Swan 40, from approximately the same year of manufacture as mine, i.e. 1978, and these boats seem very closely related in their workmanship etc. Swan is also a S&S creation, very highly esteemed here, so it is like bringing a new cousin in the respected family, as a new kid on the block.

Greetings to the other owners from (one of) the newest owner(s); My Bill of Sale was signed on 29 Jan 2010. Earlier "Impetuous" (Wonder if it is this boat that figures on the cover of the early Tartan brochures?) And then "Chiriqui", and it has been sailing out of Horta in the Azores for a long time. I am now calling her "Akeela".

Best

For anyone who does not yet have a copy of the Tartan 37 Commemorative book, or who may want a second copy, we are down to only 11 books remaining for purchase. Four books were sold in the past week alone.

Ordering instructions can be found on the site.

Happy New Year to the entire Tartan 37 clan!

Tom Wells
