Bat proof mailbox.

I know this is a bit Wiley Coyote of me... But I went through 6 cheap PVC mailboxes in 4 months. First plan was to just make the statement of buying in bulk and being back up the next day. But that passive solution has gotten old fast.

So the new solution is my very own "Bunker Box". I'm figuring that this should bounce the guys bat right through his back window.

Filling in layers to keep the shape of the box.

Initial Superball design after washing and splitting.

Final setup. 50lbs! Should be bat proof and then some. Looks harmless enough when it's closed.

Now to mount and wait!!!!!

Can of black spray paint $5
dreams of a shattered bat and fragments of a car window in the driveway some morning... priceless.

P.S. No wife... so yes, I can play with concrete in the living room!

How about adding a directional C-4 charge that triggers when the bat imapcts the side??? That'll certainly get there attention!!!

You're not the first guy that wants me to get lawsuits. We'll call it gradual escalation. The superball layer is really me being nice. Without them I'm sure the kids arm would shatter. So I'm not blowing anyone up yet. Just trying to save the neighbors the hassle. (over 10 boxes downstream of me)

I'm not quite sure what it is about kids and mailboxes, but obviously this is something that has been going on for generations now and there doesn't seem to be any reason for it except ignorance. How about a 24hr video camera set up with a night-time lens to record the buggers, that way you could prosecute. My brother had a brick column built that encased the mailbox. It stopped the bat, but they put m-80's inside and blew the door off of it!!!! Twisted Evil

Ha... at 50lbs, that might be tough. I got the boxes at Ace and the superballs on Ebay.

I'd like to catch the buggers on film after 6 months of this... but the box is 150ft from my front door with trees in the way and such. That's too far for my wireless to reach so I'm researching wired cams. If I can get the feed to my PC I can have Media Center record all dark hours and keep a couple days worth so I can check the vid once they hit again. Beside the procesution posibilities... the video could be hilarious when they hit this thing.
